ColdFusion Powered FarCry Site Details the Death of 'Free Adam'

Rachel and I just launched our wedding website at adamandrae.com. Apparently, that is the 'thing' to do. The date is rapidly approaching and all of the pieces are starting to fall into place. Luckily Rachel has been covering most of the details so I've been removed from a lot of that stress. But let me tell you, this wedding stuff... is not cheap. I knew I was going to marry Rachel the moment I laid eyes on her, and after a few months of lobbying, she felt the same.

Being the responsible individuals we like to think we are, we wanted to buy our first home before sinking money into a wedding. Unfortunately, the housing market went a little crazy on us and it took us over 5 years until we could afford a home of our own. I think we made the right decision because the costs of this thing is starting to give me an ulcer. If I could make any recommendations to those thinking about tying the knot... elope.

As for the site, it was quite simple to put together (I can only take credit for the configuration). Rachel used the latest build of FarCry and wrote a quick FarCry application to manage the online RSVP process. FarCry saved us quite a bit of time and allowed her to focus on the design rather than the development. If you haven't taken a look at FarCry, you really should. The next major release (5.0) is looking awesome. It's much more than a basic CMS, it is in fact a rapid application development framework (which just happens to come with a kick ass CMS). Best of all FarCry is open source, aka. FREE!

FarCry is good CMS for static content, the installation and help system could be improved though

Farcry is a great little CMS but its a farcry from some other open source CMS. Although I would give the new versions a try it's important to remain impartial in my job as a solutions architect.

cheers

As for me, I think it is always great to try something new, that is why I will surely give FarCry 5 a try. All other versions I managed to find by means of http://rardir.com/ (http://rardir.com/index.php?q=FarCry) and used them in my work successfully!

But with all the other free alternatives this does seem a lot more complex for a novice user.
